Let us a take a look at our cap situation...

So who will be getting reworked contracts to create cap space this offseason? Who do you think gets put on the chopping block?
Didn't we only have about $5 million in cap space this year during the season?
So, it would be safe to assume Brees will devour our cap by at least another $8 million? He was making about $10 million a year(correct?) and he'll likely be getting anywhere from $17-$20 million now.
Nicks is up for a big contract too, likely similar to Jahri Evans.
Colston is up. Porter too.
Who gets the cut? Some beefy contracts that need to go...Ellis, Smith, Moore and Harper are all getting arguably way overpaid.
Looking like we'll be lucky to get everyone resigned much less anyone in FA? Build through the draft? Veteran contracts have to catch us at some point.

Porter is gone. Nicks will be franchise tagged and Colston gets resigned. Also say good bye to Franklin and Shaun Rogers

I'm not happy, but this is probably a true statement.

It would be nice to backload Brees' contract a little bit to save a few million this year and create a little salary space.

I'm a idiot for thinking a WR who gets paid more than Colston is overpaid? Right...
I like Moore but he is way overpaid. I don't care what anyone says. He is a system WR with no physical attributes that make him noteworthy. At least Colston can go up for a ball. Can Moore? No because he is 5'9. Can he get away from anyone? No because he isn't fast. Guy is a pure system WR...he was undrafted for a reason. A 5'9 possession WR...in the NFL...
Would you rather lose Moore or Colston?

According to Pat Y, we are at 94 million. After Brees we will be at approximately 109. Cap will be 120 (soft) and 127 (hard).
We will probably cut guys like Smith and see if we can get other guys to restructure.

Neither they are both valuable assets to Drew Brees.
Also, we'd lose a lot of dance offs without Moore.

So we'll have about 11 million after Brees?
That isn't too bad. I expected worse. But we still will have to sign Nicks/Colston.
I'm hoping we can keep someone like Smith but I don't think we will. I don't think he'd be up for restructure. I'd have to think someone desperate would pay him. I think his best days are behind him but he is still good enough...if the price was right and allowed us to get some help.

U must be a idiot to say Lance Moore isn't fast! I believe they put the radar gun on him in that Monday night game vs the Packers a couple yrs ago.(He is a burner) You think he is not fast bc of how the saints use him. He has some of the best hands in the league. Who would you rather have going across that middle him or Devery or Meach? I don't believe I have ever seen him get hawked!

What the frick...
Of all things to call Moore, fast isn't one of them. I liked the comparison to a poor man's Marvin Harrison in his prime. The hands, route-running without the vertical speed...

I agree...he's not as slow as Mel Kiper Jr is making him out to be. Great hands, great chemistry with Brees. Just hurt a lot.
Still not better than Colston though. We should keep them both.
