Mike Sherman is thought to be the leading candidate after Wade Phillips pulled out of the race.

When did that happen? On the way home last night from work it was still believed he would interview today.

Texans defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, scheduled to interview for the Bucs' head coaching vacancy today in Tampa, instead withdrew his name from consideration.

Phillips told the Houston Chronicle on Thursday night, "I want to be here and don't want to be a distraction." The news was first reported by ESPN.

The news came a few hours after Phillips, who was fired as coach of the Cowboys eight games into the 2010 season, said he was going through with the interview despite feeling a strong bond with the Texans and suggestions by fans that the timing — ahead of Sunday's AFC division playoff game at Baltimore — was problematic.

I've heard this from several people. Thought it was very odd this rumor has just sprouted up out of nowhere.

Tampa Bay will be 16-0 at halftime...8-8 at the end of the season.

I have friends who work for the Tampa Bay Sports Authority. No information is coming out of One Buc Place regarding a new Coach at the moment.

To be sure, the ownership doesnt have the money to afford Les Miles. It's a safe bet that he's not even on the radar.

I'd be surprised to see Gruden back given the circumstances under which he left..
