The Honey Badger's performance made us forget how bad the offense was in the first half of the SEC title game. Zero first downs in the first half. 12 total yards. Georgia gave Saban the blue print to shut down our pathetic offense.

The fact that we were able to push Georgia around in the 2nd half probably validated the game plan and gave them no reason to adjust too much.

Basically, keep doing what has worked all season (we scored 500 points) and try the few things that worked in the first Bama game. Just a really bad game plan and terrible play calling and execution.

And I will NEVER EVER understand why Lee didn't get a chance.

Agree completely. I will never for the life of me understand why we didn't try and mix it up or adjust. We were already losing by 15.....do something different even if we get our asses kicked (we did anyway so why not try?!?!?!). Just try and show you weren't giving up and staying with what wasn't working.

I didn't. And the fact that Miles refused to bench JJ in that game had me very worried. I knew we weren't going to run over Bama like we did UGA.

Spot on Chicken. There is NO secret reason Lee did not play people. He is eligible, healthy, and the best 2nd string QB in the SEC. Should have played; period!

JJ accounted for 25 yds total offense in SECCG

So you are saying if he could have matched his output from the SECCG we could have definitely broke 100 yds. Maybe had 6 total firstdowns. And beleive me when I say it is difficult to contain my excitment as I say this, but if those extra 11 yards would have come at the right spot on the field we may have even crossed midfield as many as 2 times instead of the 1.

Totally agree with Chicken that I don't understand how Lee wasn't given a look. Especially when you consider that for most of our heralded season he was the starter.

If the coaches weren't absolutely embarrassed (as I was) by the first half of the UGA game enough to make some serious changes to the offense with Alabama looming a month away...then shame on them.

But lets be fair.

Its was what got us to the NC game. That was our identity. That same identity beat bama the last 2 years. Les went with it again ......it did not work.

Meanwhile....$abun, getting beat the 2 previous times, decided to change his teams offensive identity. They ran and threw swing passes to TR the whole year. AJ was very average but they were a run first team. Given 6 weeks.....$abun took a chance and changed the teams ID to pass first. It worked

Thats the coaching game. Thats why the rematch favored them....Les beat $abun the last 2 outta 3.....He will beat him again next year in TS.

not the first 7 or 8 games of the season.

I saw no play action to a vertical passing threat on Monday, none.

The 1st time it showed was in the Western Kentucky Game. Didn't show in the Ole Miss game because Ole Miss was really that bad then the Arky Game, Georgia, then the gump game. Look at the WR stats. But you were just hoping that he would come around. But we see how that turned out.

No. It's what beat:

Alabama
Western Kentucky
Ole Miss
Arkansas
Georgia

The only one of those teams that the defense/special teams even needed the offense to play was the Alabama game. And we apparently forgot how to run the one play that worked in that game - and didn't have a play to take advantage of Alabama selling out to stop it.

Downfield passing, play action, allowing your running backs to be the ones who actually run the ball, and picking up a first down every now and then is what got us to the National Championship.

Wrong. Lee was ranked 1st of 2nd in passing efficiency all season in the SEC. THAT'S what got LSU into position to be in the title game. Efficient passing and play-action executed well got them into that position. The Ark., and UGA games would have been blowouts from the word go with Lee starting and JJ coming in only on short yardage downs. And the play-action, power running game could have worked against 'Bama if properly coached and executed with the athletes LSU has on offense. That Lee's skills were not given a chance against 'Bama on Monday is flat-out bizarre.

Our team relied significantly on defense and special teams for scoring this year. We were hardly ever in the position of having to rely on the offense alone for points, which is what happened Monday night.

No, he really isn't. The staff attempted to make him one, and they failed.

You hit the nail on the head Chicken.
2 quotes from Les:
1)“So I don’t know that the adjustments we made since Nov. 5 were the right ones.”

2)"We needed a guy who could move his feet and not sustain the pass rush."

Neither one makes much sense. I believe in his mind, he has left the building.

Agree. Should have had Lee remain the starter after the 1st Bama game and into the 2nd - then brought in Jefferson for a change of pace but back to Lee.

Next year we will run a pocket style pro QB system and light it up with Mett.

Good points Chicken, I sat in the stands and watched that SECCG game and though to myself what a horrific offense we have, terrible game plans, and an inept QB. But then, I have thought that Les Miles has done that many times while at LSU but outstanding play by certain superstars masked his poor coaching.

Arkansas and UGA were bad for the team in adjustment terms. Jefferson tossing the ball up against Arkansas looks like a great play. That stuff doesn't work against elite corners.

I believe the Georgia game, special teams, and defense led to Miles' inaction. Our defense held Bama to 12 pts at the half, giving Miles a feeling we were still in it. He was relying on a turnover or a big play to motivate the team, change field position, etc like prior games. I think he is a huge believer in luck and hope. Why else would he not make any changes to the play calling well into the 4th qtr.
