Depends on what Randall does, if he changes position then Gunner is the back-up, if he doesn't then Gunner RS's imo.

If Gunner redshirts, wouldn't that give him potentially 3 years to start? Assuming Mett works out & doesn't leave early.

Yep, because if he redshirts this season Mett is a Jr. then Gunner is a RS Fr. next year and Mett is a Senior. Gunner comes in in 2014 as a RS Soph. and has 3 years to start.

Gunner has no reason to not redshirt. We have 2 redshirt freshmen QBs behind Mett that can play if needed. Gunner will only play if Mett gets hurt for an extended period of time.

So we would potentially be looking at having 5 straight years of quality QB play. Of course, assuming they both pan out. I know, I know, what happens when you assume, but dammnit, let me dream.

I would love for Kiel to to RS and have three years to play after Mettenberger, but I think that he will get the backup job next year.

Randall will not change position. Les won't let him because he wants to keep a running QB in his stable.
