In 2009, Alabama went 12-0 and then proceeded to lose both the SECCG and the Sugar Bowl finishing 12-2. I couldn't sleep last night but then I remember this same thing happened to Alabama. What matters now is how the players handle it and whether or not the fans can continue to support the team. We're in good shape if the players have awakened this morning with the mindset that they want a rematch. We're headed in the right direction with two skilled QB's and a stable of running backs and a defense that I'm extremely proud of in their effort. Only giving up 5 FGs before a TD late in the fourth is remarkable against the best RB in the nation. The offense has a lot of work to do, but I believe they can get there with the next crop of QBs.

Let me leave with this, Alabama had to play flawlessly (no penalties) to score 5 FGs on this team. We're extremely close.

LSU is one QB away from being dominate and winning it all..We won 13-0 in spite of our QBs

If we had scored just a TD in the 3rd QTR, I think we find a way to win ...but the defense was defeated because the offense could get nothing to promote any kind of belief they were going to win.

It was total domination...I kept thinking, just one big play will switch the momentum..just never happened

And yet they weren't calling for Saban's head.

Our fans suck.

This is a very good post. It was 2008 that we lost the last two games, but your point stands firm.

I fully expect LSU to finish undefeated 14-0 next season. If Mett is even just an average QB, LSU will be great next year. The taste of disappointment will quickly vanish, I assure you.

It was in 2008 that we went 12-2 but your point is dead on. You have a great opportunity to be THE team leading the SEC to its 7th NC in a row. Bama will be in rebuilding mode losing about 6-7 defensive starters and a few back ups.

Hell, just plug in the 4 and 5 star recruits you're signing this year (including the two from our own backyard). You guys will be just fine.

lets get this straight. for bama its a 1-2 year process. for us its a 3-5 year process because we make stupid personnel decisions at qb. losing a title game wouldnt be so bad if we had a reach coach in the captains seat that could get us there every other year. not once every 4 fricking years.

In case you've forgotten the 8-4, 9-3, and 11-2 seasons. We should be right there even in that process scenario.

While I do agree with you to a point, how many schools in the FBS would kill to be in the position LSU is in to make a push for the title every three to five years. It's a hard task to do. Granted, maybe LSU should be competing for the title every other year, but I can remember a time when all I wanted was just a competitive team that beat Bama once every 3 or 4 years, finished 9-2 or 8-3, and once in a blue moon played for the SEC crown, and once in a lifetime, a national title. Again, not trying to diminish your point at all because with this talent, maybe we should be winning it all more consistently. Just, we could be in a lot worse position. Just MHO.

Some sign of a passing game, yes. The espn "experts" last night said that bamas db's were too good even if we had a passing game. Bama won one game this year against a passing game, Arkansas. There was no trying whatsoever from us so i don't know how they would know if we actually had a QB whether we could have played better.
