I remember seeing that Chef Duke of Cafe Digiovanni would be opening up a seafood restaurant this year somewhere around West End. Well I was out that way today dropping some stuff off at Goodwill and decided to drive around and see the progress on the place and saw absolutely nothing being done. Is this place still in the works?

It's on Lakeshore Drive, next to Landry's. They will build a new building.

Oh wow, I was under the impression from the press release that they were going to start construction and be ready for a summer 2012 opening. Really looking forward to it opening.

Damn was hoping it would be near West End park or where all this restaurants used to be. Still very happy to have another place in the area.

That area is probably completely caput.....especially with the way the city F'ed over Coconut Beach. I can never understand why Brunnings never came back.

I'm hoping Duke's place knock's Landries out of buisiness and we get some other good places good there.

Agreed, it's sad to see that crap in such a prime location.

One of the big problems is that the water where the buildings were is in Jefferson Parish. The issue is that New Orleans ends up maintaining the parking lots, NOPD provides police service, etc. but Jefferson Parish collects all of the sales tax revenue, etc.
