Surely we would bring our band to the game, but man if we didn't....the experience just wouldn't be the same. What's CFB without its school bands?

bowl games are so great for the schools
Where in that article did you get the idea that it was a possibility that the bands wouldnt be there?

Rumor was that only a pep band was going, but Roy said the entire band will be there.

Thanks for the info! One of my friends told me about the news and I just couldn't imagine a game without the band there. The full experience of CFB would be taken away if that turned out true.

No band, No play. Someone advise the powers that be. Occupy Superdome. The band is part of the 1%.

he bulk of the $18 million payout LSU gets for being in the BCS game goes into a pot of bowl revenue from all Southeastern Conference teams to eventually be distributed among its members.
Seems like the schools expenses would be covered, THEN the rest would go into a pool to be shared.
Otherwise teams that do not go, profit more than those that do go and have to cover the expense of going, out of their portion.

tl;dr. But I did see that the band would use 'tickets'?? In every BCS game in the dome, they've sat in chairs on the sideline, haven't they? Not in actual stadium seats

Novabill, me and you do finances like what I would consider normal folk. That would be over 9 million going into the pot? What does the winner and looser get?

In both the 2003 and 2007 NC games, the band sat in chairs on the floor of the Dome. Apparently this time they will be in the stands, like they were at the SECCG.

No where in that article says they might not be there...or did I miss it?

Wonder why they have to sit in the stands and not on the field? Seems as if they would make more money adding additional seats on the field
Posted on 12/28/11 at 7:14 pm to LiveGold
that article is nearly a week old. i'm sure by now if there was even a chance the band wouldn't make the trip there would have been 100 pages on this. no way the tiger band won't be in those seats. why not bus them there and back anyway? they aren't playing bama's band for the NC of college bands. if the bowl wants bands there for three days they should foot that bill. why put the schools in that bind.

reconfigured Superdome...there are actually more seats than last time and no more space for chairs near the field...

Overall, Vincent said, the total bill for the LSU band’s appearance at the BCS game will run to $445,150, including transportation, three night’s lodging, meals, police escorts and other miscellaneous costs.
Why do they need to stay more than one night?

That's why it said bulk of the money, travel expenses are deducted. Now I'm not sure how much Bama's payout will be.

They're putting us in section 152 in the lower bowl. According to Roy, BCS rules state that each teams band must stay 3 nights in the city the game is played in. We're going to NOLA on the 7th, coming back on the 10th.
