Doubtful that the record is broken tonight. Offense shat the bed in second half. Division and #3 seed is wrapped up. SF playing the lowly Rams.

Does Payton rest his starters. Play them for one quarter?

ETA: record broken, but question remains..

Why not? If the 49ers lose and we win we can get the 2 seed? Right?

Yes. If SF loses, and we win, we get #2 seed. But really...its the Rams.

Brees needs to play next week to ensure that he keeps this record. Brady could pass him if he sits out next week.
