Lane Meyer or Hoops McCann?

Lane Meyer...he lost his girl because she wanted someone better looking, drives a nicer car...his best friend is Booger and he lives next door to Rickie. In fact, the only people who give him the time of day are two Asian Howard Cossells.

Plus, Lloyd Dobler can't be depressed...he's into kick-boxing...that's the sport of the future.

This. I knew when I was like 7 years old that Lane Meyer led a shitty existence and to this day I feel bad for him. Hoops was doing alright in life and then had a pretty good summer to cap off his high school career. He took the bully's girl instead of vice versa(and had to literally beat her off with a stick) and had a crew of friends that worshiped him. Then he gets to bang Demi Moore for pretty much just being a good guy and doing the right thing. It's really not even close.

His pain was relative. He was basically just being a little bitch, but if he ever watched Better Off Dead, his attitude would have elevated tremendously. But what he was going through is something a lot of us go through the summer after we graduate. The whole "What am I gonna do?" thing kind of hits you. You realize shite is about to get real and all your dreams(being a cartoonist) really may not become a reality.
