I can't believe this. Coach Saban has said in the past, when making an OC hire, that previous play-calling experience is vital. Freddie Kitchens was a GA at LSU under Coach Saban, but has only been a position coach in college football (North Texas and Mississippi State) and the NFL (Arizona Cardinals).

saban hires all his old cronies. what a control freak.
Other than working under Saban as a GA in 2000, he has no other connection to be called a "cronie". Freddie Kitchens played at Alabama in the mid-1990s.

They just changed it

CORRECTION: Kitchens is in talks with Alabama about the position, he has not been offered the position of Offensive Coordinator.

Good lord he went to hell.

I always thought he should open a restaurant

he still looks like he has a dash of down syndrome.

This seems a lot like a Major Applewhite-ish type of hire.
Posted on 12/19/11 at 5:32 pm to OBUDan
Is this serious? Does not seem like this would happen
Posted on 12/19/11 at 6:09 pm to OBUDan
At least Major Applewhite had play-calling experience at Rice, before coming to Alabama. That's why I don't believe this stuff on Freddie Kitchens.

going from "definitely offered" to "in discussion" from the same source pretty much guarantees this is BS
Posted on 12/19/11 at 6:34 pm to Maximus
It's still real to me dammit!
Posted on 12/19/11 at 6:45 pm to CapstoneGrad06
Yeah, seems like BS.

saban is going for yanowski IMO

If he is as good of a OC as he was a QB then I fully support him for the job

Is he this guys daddy?

FWIW, Jimbo Fisher, Major Applewhite, and Jim McElwain were all offensive coordinators at the Division 1-A level for only one year before they were hired by Saban.

Really, you must not know much about football or coaching football. That was a stupid question!

Not sure how i feel about this.
The guy was one tough MF'er, and I think he could bring that mentality to our offense. I hope as get him.

I could see Nutt getting this. He and Saban both share the same mentality that a vertical pass is against the rules.

Maybe CNS thinks he needs a new coach to handle TE's and special teams
