Tyrann Mathieu isn’t going to win the Heisman. But he should.

Good article, but I ultimately disagree. Robert Griffin is the best CFB player this year.

Tyrann always has his junior season.

I hate the stupid heisman award because it is stupid to compare defensive players to offensive players or even OL or DL to QB's.

Agree, but only because there is and always will be a huge bias toward QBs and RBs. They simply have the best opportunity to have an obvious individual impact. I'm almost of the opinion that it should become an offensive award only.

If Suh and Mathieu can't win it, it's probably out of a defensive player's reach.

Woodson over Manning pretty much seasled the deal as far as the heisman goes for me. The media will spin it the way they want it to go.

Looks like RG3 and Trent are the 2 to beat and the way the media has been shining Bama's knob....don't be surprised if they give RG3 the shaft

Crap conference and guys WIDE open on 80 percent of his throws.....then lets see guy that is unprecedented ball hawk. Leading tackler on best defense in nation. We performed better when it mattered in OT nov 5th as well. He is once in a generation type player....we will see Trent and RG3s every year for the next 25. Its quite possible you will never see another player like Mathieu again in your life time.

I agree 100 percent. As I have said before, call it Charles Woodson Award. Have a corner back destroying receiver type mold for the trophy.

Isn't this what the Bednarik is?

I love me some Honeybadger... but the Heisman is backs award (offensive). It is what it is.

He lost to the Ags. He lost all the votes. End thread.

I think Richardson should win it. He was the only reason Alabama moved the ball against LSU and was obviously the best offensive player in the game. Against all the other teams he faced, he was dominant.

Half of Richardson's Td's (10) came in 3 games against Ole Miss, North Texas, and Kent State..

Alabama's schedule was HORRIBLE this year. They even played an FCS school.

Against the only defense he faced he could not break 100 yards rushing and he had ZERO td's.

He had an opportunity to win a heisman that game, and did not do nearly enough. The stage was set, and his team LOST at home.

Robert Griffin 3 took a Baylor team to a 9-3 record and is on the verge of a 10 win season. He had heisman moments all season long. His team is not nearly as talented as the team's he has faced and he was a BEAST. It truly is RB3 and TM7.. then everyone else in terms of DESERVING.
