I have been to n.o. a few times before prior to katrina. I will be coming again for the game jan. 9th. Granted this will be the busiest time I have ever been in the city. That being said, I was wondering how you guys like to get from point a to point b. Traffic will be horrible I'm sure. Take a cab? Walk? I will be staying at the Marriott on Canal. Is this too far or too risky to walk to the superdome? Also what are some of the better restaurants in the quarter? Any helpful info is greatly appreciated.

I would walk. In 07, I spent the day in the quarter and wondered over to the Dome once game time approached.

That area is considered a high risk area. You should immediately cancel your room-I would be glad to take it off your hands to help you avoid cancellation charges. Your safety is important to me.

This! I did the same thing for 07 Sugar bowl. Stay in the quarter and walked to dome!

Marriott on Canal is only a 15 minute walk to the Dome & it's safe especially considering the amount of people. It's also only 3 blocks from Bourbon. Park your car and don't get it until it's time to go home.

Just trying to help.

Perfect location-will be able to do everything you need to do on foot from there. Stay there often, waited too long and Gumps grabbed all the rooms.

Well I booked the room prior to bama/lsu pt. 1. Called the hotel directly and they said all rooms were sold out for those dates. Checked on priceline and they had rooms available for the same hotel. Only problem was there were no refunds. So I was kind of uneasy during the bama game to say the least. Want me to release bees and snakes into those bammers rooms and create vacancies jan.8?
