Per ESPN:

The hornets are willing to do a sign and trade so West can go to a contender and possibly get back some assets. Could the hornets benefit from this?

Ship West, Paul, and Oak out to the same team

Probably better than just letting him go.

I understand that, but why dont teams do this more often. Are there penalties to do it or just the mere fact of trying to get the player to agree to do it?

I can't really think of any teams that might be considered contenders.

Orlando, Indy, OKC maybe?

How about West to OKC for a package around Harden?

Maybe Orlando, for a deal surrounding Bass and Orton.

That would be phenomenal for us, awful for them.

i think there are restrictions against it in the new CBA, but there are loopholes...or something like that.

and a lot of it is getting the player to do it and getting another team to agree to it so that you don't get stuck with a player who doesn't want to be there. West probably wants to do it to help out NOLA because he's been here so long and loves the city and such.

OKC Roster
PG- Westbrook
SG- Sefolosha
SF- Durant
PF- West
C- Perkins/Ibaka

That would be a damn strong team. OKC needs low post offense.

SG- Sefolosha

Like that name

but OKC might have something there if West playes to his capability after this knee surgery

I don't disagree, but I think you need to rephrase that. West doesn't really provide much "low post" offense. He's definitely more of a high post PF.

Ok

OKC needs someone who can guard the PF position and provide offense.

I heard earlier in the offseason that Minnesota was a top suitor for West. They wanted a veteren to put with Love and D. Williams, plus they have to spend money to reach the salary floor. How about a S&T for Webster and Beasley for West?

didnt even think that would be possible

to get a s.a.t. done with West and actually get something back for him would be GREAT (assuming we get Landry back, or a suitable plug-in)

ETA: I want a PF that can DUNK

Are the Hornets not "contenders"? What did I miss last year? They gave the Lakers everything they wanted in the playoffs.

In addition to the Pacers, Ken Berger of CBSSports.com reports that the Mavs, Heat, Spurs and Hawks have inquired about unrestricted free agent forward David West.
Those four teams don't have the cap room to sign West, and would likely need a sign-and-trade deal to make something happen. Berger reports that the Hornets are willing to move West in a sign-and-trade if it can "bring back an asset or two."

Would def be interested in seeing what addl pieces we could bring back in for West, especially from Hawks or Pacers.
