Alabama/LSU Rivalry

What are your thoughts on the development of this rivalry? Things have obviously escalated, and the level of hate felt on the campuses of both schools for the other is pretty impressive.
We're now playing Alabama for the first all-SEC National Championship -- and it's a rematch of the alleged "Game of the Century" that saw unprecedented hype.
My questions are these: does the rivalry take on a more "tangible" feel after this year? Will it be something that lasts past the current set of coaches (i.e. will we care as much after Saban is gone)? Does LSU finally have a "real" rival?

Alabama fans don't really view us as hated rivals. That's Auburn. We don't have a hated in state rival so we kinda shift around.
The LSU vs Alabama match up in the last several years and now culminating into the BCS NC is going to be a thing of College football legen.

Believe me, I'm aware. I usually hate these rivalry discussions, because I don't know why it's so hard for people to understand that we really don't have one.

I don't see any Bama fans starting these "can we be your rivals" threads. But I've seen several from LSU fans. I just find it quite odd.

Last I checked, Mike is still kicking, so I'd say that while all things Alabama are still hated and should be kicked in the tooth, we don't have a rivalry.
We, like everyone else, just have a seething hatred for The University of the Damned. It's a primal thing. You know, like instinctively knowing to stay as far away from a pile of shite as possible.
It's hard to be rivals with someone you don't respect on any level.

In the last 12 meetings, LSU has a 9-3 record over Bama, including Miles with a winning record over Saban. I think in order for it to be a rivalry, it has to be competitive.
