Ive got a friend that swears by this stuff. Apparently it's what they use to make persimmon corn. He mixes a little with water in a spray bottle and puts it on corn and rice bran piles. He says deer love it so much they'll dig holes in the ground after the bran or corn is all gone. I've don't usually hunt over bait, but its been so slow the last couple of weeks I'm thinking about giving it a try.

It's $2 per ounce at our local farm store.

we have a persimmon tree on a field that the deer don't even bother with from what I could tell.

i believe what you're saying because you're there but I find it VERY hard to believe that the deer aren't all over that tree............unless the persimmons are nasty tasting or not ripe.

I know for a fact that deer will find the sweetest satsuma tree to eat them off of.

Maybe most are too tall and out of reach but i'd think they'd find a way to knock more down or something. We've seen deer on the field but i've never seen them messing around the tree.

They tear up the persimmons where I hunt, but squirrels and coons usually eat them all before they get ripe. I've got a tree by one of my stands and on the rare year that the Persimmons are on the ground it's automatic to see 6-8 deer per set.
