| Has LSU "unofficially" retired Toonces? (Posted on 11/29/11 at 12:12 pm)
I know they had a contract and were obligated for a number of years, but is that now over or close to it? I never see it much anymore..Thank God. I would love to have been a fly on the wall when they opened that first print after having paid a buttload of money and seen....... This..... The fact that this was even signed off on baffles me.

LSU public relations and media personel think it was the one best logo designs ever because it has genertated the most money over any previous logo.

The LSU football team had an unprecedented amount of success in the "Toonces" time frame. That's the reason for the record revenue. But, I know you knew that already, Muddy

No doubt...and the cartoonish Tiger head is great for sales to women and children. Men will buy LSU stuff to show their fandom readily but the options for women/kids push merchandise sales over the top. That said, they lucked out that the Tiger head alone is decent. That full logo (the puppeteer hands and the awful block lettering) was a total disaster.

At least they took that font, flattened it and it became the "Geaux Font" which is pretty badass So at least something good came from it

Yeah they took the head off the complete toonces logo and put the new geaux font under it and that is our new "offical media mark" of course Nike hates it so they only use the eye because they realize the crap doesnt sell

Toonces is on the basketball shorts this season. Seems pretty fitting after that debacle against South Alabama last week. Even so, I was pretty surprised to see Toonces on the shorts. I didn't think we'd ever see that crap on any of the real uniforms. Oh well.

and although i'm not in love with the modified logo, its 1000 times better than the original toonces. Hell the logo in this thread doesnt even have the swirly thing in the background. What the hell was that?

The basketball uniforms look the same to me as last year. I think it was on there last season. eta: here's a pic from last season. they had toonces on the shorts then too.

no wonder we are having trouble recruiting for basketball. No one wants to play for a program with that shite on the shorts.
