the point of the BCS is to find out who the best team is...

not to necessarily put the two "best" teams in the same game. it is to crown the season's champ.
LSU has already run through the gauntlet with Alabama being a part of this run. We shouldn't have to play them again.

I heard this take a couple days ago and haven't seen it repeated anywhere so here goes.
The NC game is not to find out who the second best team is - it is to find the best team.
Alabama is not the best team = it is perhaps second best. That fact has already been established.
Now - the NC game is not to reaffirm who is second best.
What is needed is to find out if some OTHER team may be the 'best.'
Alabama has already had their opportunity and failed.
Bring on someone else who has not already been eliminated.
eta: - as for me - I don't care - LSU can beat anyone. Come on Alabama - we will beat you again.

Exactly. People are also forgetting that the Oklahoma State players lost on the same day they had two of the schools women's basketball coaches killed in a plane crash.
If Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma, they deserve to be in the NC game.
