If LSU beats Georgia (Should happen), will a split NC be in place if LSU were to lose the NC game? The CBS commentators mentioned this earlier.

Certainly if Bama gets the chance and wins then it should be discussed.

Fans will finally have to give credit to USC if they want to claim it, though.

Hell No! The team that will have beaten LSU will also have just one loss and would have the heads-up advantage against them in what was basically an LSU home game.

If LSU loses the NC who would they split with? The team that beat them?

Usually a split happens when the two teams don't actually play each other.

yeah, I just don't understand the LSU fans who are saying this. If/when yall beat UGA, you will NOT have already won 1/2 of the MNC. You have to win that game Period. It doesn't matter if you play OSU, Va Tech, Bama, etc.

First off, there would be no head-to-head advantage if they play Bama. Both teams would be 1-1, with LSU having the conference championship and a better resume. I do agree with the USC point, though.

The only possible split would be if whoever is team #3 absolutely blows out whoever they play and LSU loses to team #2. But even then it would be a split with team #2 and #3, not LSU. There is pretty much no way they could split the title.

People need to remember that the AP is in no way affected by the BCS. They choose their own champion, so they don't fall under the "win the NC game and your the undisputed champ" umbrella that the BCS does.

Bama wins the game that counts the most. No split IMO. But it would be awesome to see LSU fans clamoring for a split when they mock the USC fans for the AP split in 03

The point is that if LSU beats Georgia but loses the NC game they would still have had the most impressive season vs. any other team.

Bama will have won when it mattered most and, just like when Florida beat FSU in the title game after losing to them earlier in the year, there would be no question whatsoever as to who would get the #1 votes.

so who exactly would you split with? if OSU beats yall, is your logic you split with them b/c you both finished the season with 1 loss, and their loss was to a much worse team?

I'm not flaming here, simply trying to understand your logic or where you're coming from.....

The CBS announcers said it would be considered.

LSU will have had one hell of a season to be sure but you can't have the most impressive season if you don't win the biggest game of the year.

Why is that retarded? Are you arguing the stage in Tuscaloosa is bigger than the BCS Title Game?

They lost by a field goal in OT.

If there's a close game, some AP voters will vote LSU number 1. Don't think that can really be disputed.

Now will there be enough to let LSU claim an AP national championship? Probably not, but it's certainly not impossible.
