The voters did not think Florida was the second best team, they really did not want a rematch. They really thought Michigan was the second best team. They will also vote Ok State number 2 if they beat Ok.

The difference is Bama is clearly the second best team out there, Okie State would be destroyed by LSU.

Sigh... the point is that YOU DON'T KNOW who ia better until they play. Football is about matchups. Bama and lsu just so happen to be built to stop each others strengths.

Georgia southern put up 20 points against bama. Is Georgia southern better than lsu?

This. The system is designed to have the 2 best teams in the country play for the title. This just happens to involve a rematch this year.

This is actually nothing like Ohio St-Michigan. That year you had a one-loss SEC champ waiting. The OSU-Michigan game was the very last game of the year for those teams and you didn't have utter chaos in the following weeks.
