It changes every 2 years. They take the total number of teams playing football and basically divife them by 5, or close to it. Its an actually incredibly stupid process, as there is a huge descrepency in 5A, and they use the same numbers for most all other sports, which is pure laziness on the part of the LHSAA. I'm starting to get the impression our LHSAA is full of morons that have no idea how to work towards fair competition and are only there to assert their authority when it suits them and pick up a check. They basically answer to no one. I think they should be scrapped and we start over

Until the member principals grow a pair and vote to alow schools to play up in classification, the present way is the only way you can do it.

well the classification process is relatively straightforward. take all the football schools and divide them by 5. fair enough...

now the districting process

basically you can ask to switch districts if you think your school will lose to the new district. the districts should be decided and that's it. live with it. tough. get a better team.

I didn't know LA divided all the football schools by 5. In MS the 32 biggest schools are 6A. The next 32 are 5A. 4a and 3A are 64 teams and I think 2A and 1A are split evenly. Our districts are done by location every 3 years and there is no questions about it, that is your district.

or create the power division thats 6A for schools basically above 1500 and schools that want to play up. This looked like it would happen, then got tabled due to an incompetent system. I just don't understand why schools who don't have particular sports are allowed to vote with regards to sports they do not have, its insane

because you'd be asking 280 schools to create a system for 32-40 to tell the state they're better at football than them. for the majority of schools, their championships would no longer matter, as no one would be paying attention to anything but the super classification
