Tulane dropped them by 46 tonight. Both LSU and Tulane lost to Nicholls last year. I'll admit that I was a little excited about the 22 point victory until Tulane curbstomped them.

We demoralized them so thoroughly they weren't ready for their next game

ESPN Preseason Division 1 power rankings from 1 to 344 had...

LSU #127 (11th in SEC ahead of only Auburn)
Coastal Carolina #151 (2nd in Big South)
Tulane #210 (10th in CUSA)
Nicholls #295 (10th in Southland)

Nicholls had a once in 20 year player for their program (Bose) last season and have very little D1 talent this year.

Seems like we may have been overrated ???

As much as I want to hope that we can be a .500 team this year, I don't think it's going to happen.

Maybe Tulane was a worse matchup.

Does anyone else find this a bit unacceptable for Trent's 4th year?

I'm going to let the year play out, because obviously its still very early. But this is not looking good so far.

True dat. I honestly don't think I've ever seen LSU basketball in such terrible shape. Losing to Coastal Carolina for the second straight year certainly doesn't bode well for the season, either. I'm starting to wonder if the program will ever turn around. It's too bad, because we actually were a good, strong basketball program in the 1980s and early '90s.

I admit I was hoping to see at least some progress in his fourth year, but you are right. It's not looking good.

I don't know what's worse...that there are 126 teams that are better than LSU or 217 that are worse.

I think so. I'm still having trouble imagining 217 division I teams being worse than ours.

It's too early to tell for sure, but I think the SEC would have to be awfully weak for us to sniff .500 this season.

Trent Johnson can not coach....period. LSU basketball will never be successful as long as this guy is the leader of the program. This pains me greatly because I have loved LSU basketball my whole life. It is a sad day in LSU athletics to see the quality of coaching this guy does. It is pathetic!
