Got a call from my dad this morning he told me that a nice 8 point was killed on our lease chasing does yesterday. I made some calls and all confirmed that the bucks have been chasing does for the last couple of days.

We are a couple weeks out in W TN also. Had a group of young bucks come into a food plat Sat evening. A 4pt and a 6pt were sparring, but it wasn't serious yet. They were just playing.

I know in the Arkansas state line parishes, especially Northwest, the bucks usually start rutting around Thanksgiving. But in the mississipipi river parishes, I have found over the ten years, the best 10 day period I'd Dec. 22- Jan 02

Had 2 buddies kill bucks in central LA that were both chasing does last week.

I found a fresh rub line and scrapes in my spot in Loggy Bayou last week. The next 2 weeks should be good up here.

I hear that. I'm not saying they aren't starting to chase, and I saw a couple of big scrapes last weekend in Tensas. I can't wait to go this weekend.

Speaking for NW LA, We are about 7-10 days out. The young bucks have started chasing a few does.

That's my experience across the river... Most wonderful time of the year.

I haven't seen any evidence of it yet in Webster. Just pre rut. I think we've got a couple weeks left still. We're still seeing buck groups.

Nico, What part of Tensas do you hunt? I have a buddy that has a camp on the border of buckhorn, gone after Thanksgiving. We always go the last weekend of duck season, which is Black Powder, and they are full rut!

We'll be hunting around Ruston this weekend, hopefully we start seeing some action around there, too.

Haven't seen them chasing in Winn Parish yet. The buck are moving around getting ready to start though. I'd expect it to begin in about two weeks.

I always find it funny that EVERYONE hunts the end of November rut, but no one hunts the secondary rut that always seems to fall at the first of the year. My dad and I will be the only person on the club hunting then and we almost always kill at least one nice buck about that time.
