Miles is having a blast this season.

It's been a long time since I've seen a head coach have as much fun as Les Miles is having this season. In the high-pressure, win-at-all-cost state of college football these days, it's refreshing to have a man in charge who loves his job. Part of the reason the team has played so loose in big road games this year could be they are feeding off The Hat. Certainly in stark contrast to the guy in Alabama who is a stroke candidate on the sideline week after week.

Especially impressive given some of the off the field drama that he's had to face. He certainly seems to have a great perspective on things. Kudos to him for that.

Yet his hat size remains the same. Strong yet still humble.

It took me awhile to appreciate just how much the guy loves being out there. I took it as a lack of focus, but it's not.
Take his smiling and singing along with Calling Baton Rouge they play during warm-ups. Each week now, after probably doing it by accident a couple of years ago, the camera now finds him so they can show him on the field singing along with the song. At first, this irked the shite out of me...now? It's clearly one of the reasons he's so damn good at what he does. He likes to be out there, and kids play for him because of it.

Very well stated!
You also have to give him props for the balance that he manages between being a father of 4 and a demanding schedule of running this program on a national championship run! That takes ALOT!

I guess you can believe him when he says he loves his job—as difficult as that must've been the past three seasons. No matter what, he's one of the few nationally prominent sports figure I'd like to have a beer with. He's a genuinely good dude.

He just always "has a great day."
Honestly, I think that he gets a kick out of folks that goof on him and try to run him down...and just keep looking foolish when he proves them wrong.

Another factor: loyalty. He has stuck w LSU and unlike his predecessor did not bolt for perceived greener ($,$$$,$$$) pastures when given the opportunity.
His actions just before LSU's most recent SEC championship game told me all I needed to know. He was loyal then and loyal now.
Tremendous leader by example. That's what is needed in society more than ever. Props to CLM.
He's found a home and we are most fortunate benefactors as fans for his decision to stay at LSU.
On a side note: The 5 to 10 second cameo of Saban ranting and screaming on the sidelines was priceless! Saban to Penn State would be appropriate. He's no longer boss in the SEC West. Move over St. Nick. CLM is taking over.

His personality and love of life is a perfect fit for Louisiana. It is like he was born here and not from up north. LONG LIVE LES MILES AT LSU

Agree with your subject line and overall post; but this team AND Miles were NOT loose in the Bama game. Everyone was very stressed.

Money also comes from consistency. He is smart enought to know that LSU is great place for recruiting highly and getting good talent at assistant coach level as LSU has the dough to offer and hence perform great as a coach. If he goes somewhere else he might get good offers initially but he might not be able to perform. Also he won't get the satisfation of leading a great program. He's a great coach but he's no Nick Saban when it comes to turning programs around.

Noticing the same thing, and honestly it's making me enjoy the season a lot more too.
I had no idea when he showed up out of Okie State with his girlie ear-piece and bizarre statements to the media what kind of unique coach/leader/man he truly is. His character and attitude show in the way the team carries itself, plays the game, and their overall attitude.
