With all of the hype and analysis, the simple facts are overlooked

1. Bama is not as good on offense as last year. (Replacing Ingram, Julio, McElroy) McCarron will play his first big game Sat.
2. LSU's offense is dramatically improved (sans G. Crowton) with Sr. leadership at QB X 2 and much improved OL play being the most critical.
3. Bama's defense is better than a year ago, and so are the Tigers.
4. Home field has not mattered much in this series.
5. The team that beat them last year probably shouldn't have. Bama underachieved big time last year. They certainly should have beat Auburn.

They are not a better team this year IMO. LSU is greatly improved from a year ago on both sides of the ball, and we have superior special teams.

Only 2 more days to find out if I am correct about this. I might have to watch.

Pretty good point. I think the biggest thing we have in our favor is turnover ratio and brad wing. Both are real game changers. We go +2 on turnovers, we win regardless of anything else, including refs in bama's pockets. But like you said, there is a reason we play the game. LSU is the better team in my opinion, but they have to play like it saturday.

I really do think last year's Bama team would beat this Bama team 9 out of 10 times. They just didn't make the plays necessary to close out games. It just happens that way sometimes. We as LSU fans certainly know both sides of that equation.

I promise, there's nothing about this game that hasn't been brought up at some point, somewhere.

I meeeeeeaaan....Trevor Matich broke down the team's recruiting rooms today. It was tongue in cheek, but that's how hard they've stretched in covering every...single...aspect of this game.

I hear you, but I think most of the analysis ignores the points mentioned. IMO, LSU is greatly improved and I don't think they are. Now, we need to play like it.

I think this Bama team, is like a few of the LSU teams in the past. The stats inflate how good people think the team is. I remember when this was done for the Florida vs LSU game in 08. Bringing up the stats making it seem like the LSU defense couldnt really be scored on. LSU was a good team then, but not half as good as the stats and hype around them was. This Bama team is great, but i dont think they are this unstoppable juggernaut the media and stats make them out to be. Not just on defense but on offense too.

LSU's Defense in 2002 was another good example. They had the #1 defense in the country before Alabama won 31-0. The defense struggled the rest of the season. Remember Kentucky? It was the week before, I know, but that was not a great defense. Arkansas?

The stats were misleading.

Oregon is rushing for over 300 yards per game. They play LSU again and they get held to 90 yards again.

Been saying that for two weeks now. Bama is psychologically fragile. Notice how they folded against Auburn last year. There is zero possibility that they run up the score on us, but a very real possibility that we crush them. More likely, I think we beat them by 10.

I actually agree that LSU is a little bit better team than Alabama and I agree with points #2 thru 5 but I could not disagree more with #1 and your very last point. I`m totally bewildered how LSU fans actually think last year`s Bama offense and overall team is clearly better this year. It flies in the face of everything that has actually happened on the field. Last year`s Alabama team had a couple more high profile playmakers but this year`s team has been WAY WAY more effective both offensively and defensively. We average more points and yards per game offensively this year and have destroyed every single opponent on the schedule just like LSU has. In fact, it`s far more eerie and amazing how incredibly similar both LSU and Alabama are this year. Again, I think LSU wins a close game because of your uncanny ability to force TOs and your kicking game but there it is simply defies logic to say that last year`s Bama team would beat this year`s Bama team 9 out of 10 times. efiedio

You left off another important fact: LSU simply has the magic. This team has heart and passion. They are hungry this year. We are going to win. I dont care about any of the hype or analysis. Its our year!

One caution I have is last years's Bama team had to play half of their schedule vs teams that had a bye week. Also, last year Bama had to replace about 9 on defense. Neither of those are a factor this year. Just sayin. I still think we win, but I'm pretty sure I'll have a cigerette in each hand and I don't even smoke
