So deer season opens the first week of Thanksgiving and myself and nerd guy are making the long trek from baton rouge to Braxton County WV to fill the freezers again this year. Figured I would share some game camera pics my dad sent me today. The hunt is more about filling the freezer. Nerd Guy will correct me if I am wrong, but I dont believe he has had the opportunity to kill a buck yet. I hope that changes this year!

This is at the stand ill be planted in 1st morning, hope to avoid the bear at least until I am up the tree

Hear are some pics from the stand nerd guy will be hunting out of first day. This 8 pt isnt the largest dad has seen around the stand, there is a 10 pt milling around the area.

I have no problems thinning WV's massing doe population again. The hill country is known to have a lot of deer...but damn, WV seems to have just as many.

great pictures, thanks for sharing. You may want to back the camera out a little farther. I'm sure you are missing some pictures

Buck pic #2 would make a good "Come at me bro". The hills and hardwoods look like turkey hunting heaven.

Normally more turkey then we know what to do with. Recent weather during the winter have not kept the numbers low so there have been a mini explosion in their population. Also our county keeps the hunting season to spring only. Dad owns several tracks of land and each one has a flock this size or larger...

Agreed, told my dad this and he just grumbled.... he is doing all the work and I am blessed to just show up and hunt. Gotta love the old man! Last year I got him a new stand for the prep. This year a new spotting scope.

Exactly how long is Thanksgiving in West Virginia?

old habit.... In school we got the entire week that contained the Thanksgiving holiday off. Just grew up in an area where that statement was understood by everyone. Now that you mention it I see the folly.
