USC's TJ McDonald suspended 1/2 game for hit on Stanford

What a crock. The receiver DUCKED HIS HEAD at the last moment. Throw a flag, fine. But suspended him? I don't care if it's only 1/2 a game versus Colorado, that's not the point. If the receiver doesn't duck down, TJ hits him in the chest.
Screw the PAC-12 and screw our wussy commissioner.
I know a lot of SEC fans don't like Slive, but at least he sticks up for your conference, and the schools within it. Our commissioner hasn't stuck up for SC once for anything. This is such crap.

I am proud with how this young man is handling the situation, though.

"I accept my penalty and I apologize to my teammates, to our Trojan fans and to the Stanford team," he said in a statement released by the school and via his Twitter account. "I'm disappointed that I can't be with my teammates during the first half of this Friday's game, but I know they will do a great job without me. I was not purposefully trying to hurt the receiver.
"As I said after the game, I will figure out a way to play physically and still stay within the rules."

so, not only does he get a horrible call against him that likely cost them the game, now they are suspending him???
Looks like someone is punishing Kiffin for opening his mouth after the game.

Sounds like you need to take a lesson from him then.
The dude left his feet and it doesn't matter what the receiver did. It happened how it happened.

Is this going to set a precedent in the Pac 12? If so, the powers that be are traveling down a slippery slope.
Was it a penalty as interpreted by the rule? Probabaly
However it didn't seem like the DB had any intention on hitting the guy in the head. As others have stated, he was just the victim of circumstance (i.e. the WR falling backwards just prior to the hit)
This wasn't the Arkansas guy who CLEARLY made an illegal hit and boasted about it on the field.

Wade is a fricking idiot, and he kept protesting on his way to the locker room

The most absurd part of it was the Arkie fans trying to justify it. Hilarious to see.

You would think the refs extending Stanford's drive and USC losing in OT would be punishment enough for this program.
I guess everyone who isn't with USC wants them to just say "enough with all this bullshite against us" and quit playing football.

McDonald was suspended because he was flag 3 times for the same thing against AZ State, and had been warned by the Pac-12 already.

He and his brother are both great kids and good football players. I wish Cliff Harris would have more of their personal characteristics.

Regardless of what he did against ASU, he did nothing wrong in the Stanford game. Leaving your feet to make a tackle is not illegal. Leading with your helmet is not illegal. Players do it constantly when they put their helmet on the ball, or lower their head and tackle a guy. The WR lowered his body which caused the hit.
It is retarded to think that the defensive player can make the exact same movement, but the penalty is dependent on whether or not the defensive player lowers his head into harms way or not.

Vontaze has nearly committed multiple felonies on the football field and has never been suspended by the conference

Hopefully the commish just suspended him to protect the fact they helped keep one of there own undefeated because this kid won't be able to change his style of play which could lead to him being suspended again. He's been taught by his dad since he was a kid. It won't change and never will.

Good point. I really think it is to make it seem like the play was dirty and protecting themselves.
You know as well as I do the Pac hasn't had many years where two teams went to a BCS bowl game. If Stanford loses to Oregon and wins out they very well could be picked. If Stanford had lost those chances got much lower. They want that money.

On a side note. Has anything been mentioned about the arky(I think) gun man that leveled the guy that made the fair catch? It was horrible.

That's why they hired Larry Scott. The old bum presided like an old time commish who just let the chips fall where they may. Hands-off.
Scott is following the example of Mike Slive. If you want all the goodwill, money and adoration you have to be pro-active, lobby, coerce, manipulate and go out there and take it.
Tom Hansen was stuck in the old days and couldn't even mentally process what college football is in the BCS era.

Really?
I am pretty sure his feet never left the ground. It was a clean hit imo. He was just trying to separate the football from the receiver.

Apparently the ref who "lied" to Kiffin is a former ND linebacker
