Let me get this straight. LSU lost three key players at mid-week and the line really hasn't moved..21-23-21. Auburn's getting no respect?

LSU plays pretty good with something that helps it focus.

You'd think those guys would be worth at least a touchdown at the end of the day.

Teams like Bama, LSU, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma have been coming in like clockwork as heavy favorites. The crowd has been riding them, so Vegas keeps pushing the lines upward, figuring that they'll catch everyone eventually.

My understanding is Vegas' only interest is drawing equal amounts of money to each side of the bet. Ergo, Vigorish..

Precisely, that's one of the reason for the inflated lines. They know that a large portion of bettors will ride the favorites no matter what, so they're trying to make things attractive for folks to bet the dogs.

Vegas doesn't change the line, the bettors do.

The money line took a big move at first, going from minus 1800 LSU to minus 900. It is back up to minus 1500. That still reflects a 93% chance the LSU wins (according to Vegas) if I am doing the numbers right.

Vegas controls the line. The bettors are only one variable.

Las Vegas gamblers who never gamble but fix the odds so they just simply collect money must feel like that this 2011 LSU football team. Is a good team. The BCS #1 team. 21 poins will be a mountain to clime for LSU to cover. Think of that spread. Auburn gets 21 points before the game starts. So the football game that LSU is about to play at 2:30 PM tiger stadium on CBS TV. Is Auburn 21 vs LSU 0. Before the kick off. Who takes that kind of a chance on stacked Las Vegas odds? Betting your money, of all things.

Do you think that might be a setup for emotional college football fans who truly think that LSU is that much better then Auburn? The Las Vegas bookies thinks that they will have a very good chance at you losing that bet. 21 points is of course too many. Call the same bookies up on your phone and ask him that you now want to bet him $10 bucks that LSU wins straight up, winner take all, No odds given or taken. See what he tells you. He'll tell you "no bet".

Whats the popular nickname for someone who makes a foolish bet?

Why would you not just take Auburn and the 21 pt?
better chance to win than straight up bet with no pt.

I thought that was the money line. As it stands now, you have to bet 1500 on LSU to make $100 profit. The higher the money line, the better chance your team has.
