they are almost a top tier program... no disrespect, but I totally disagree with this... you're team is not on the cusp of being a top tier program and it's because of one simple reason... skematically speaking, the high school spread offense will never be able to have success against a heavyweight SEC school.. the same thing that happened to y'all also happened to Oregon when we played them.. your oline and d-line are too small to have an effect on the game and no matter how good your skill players are, it will work against us.. the spread might put up 40-50 points against rutgers and Nevada, but against the big boys? not so fast my friend

and don't say 'well look at the yards we got'.. look what happened when y'all got into the red zone... no success bc of your inability to move LSUs d-line and run the ball

The spread can work in the SEC. You just have to get the right players.

Couple of quick rebuttals. The O-line did a great job of pass-blocking... (run blocking not so much).

Our coach is working with an entire team of players that he did NOT recruit. This is our 4th game under this guy. His coaching staff was inherited from Bill Stewart... again guys he did NOT bring in, or want.

Every running back we have is a freshman.

Do we have work to do? Hell yes.

But I think this time next year if Geno stays, things will be on the upswing.

Bill Stewart was a cancer to our program.

so he's losing with Stewart's players?? haha I kid... I wasn't ripping your team, you are what you are.. you'll win the Big East but that's about it.. if you meet a (top) SEC team in a bowl game you'll have the same result...

quick rebuttal: Do you think you will have another QB and group of wide receivers that are as good as they are now?

Fortunately for us, we bring pretty much everyone back. Our receivers are young and we have a good WR and QB recruit in this class.

Most WVU fans are optimistic because Holgorsen's offense has been Top 3 in the country past several years, plus our defense was the #3 ranked D in the country last year -- leading in sacks.

If we can manage to recruit some athletes and lineman (not an easy task at all for WVU), we should be able to add to our other 2 BCS Bowl wins, and get back to being a annual Top 10 team like we were from 2005-2008.

#1 We don't run a spread anymore, haven't in sometime

#2 See Sugar Bowl 2006, truest spread we ever ran, gave UGA fits.

"skematically speaking, the high school spread offense will never be able to have success against a heavyweight SEC school"

I would much prefer a pro-style office, however, I have to agree with Cajunfootball. Auburn went 14-0 last year with their spread offense. It's about having the right kind of players to run it.

But I bet WVU can still compete with over half of the SEC and beat them. Just because they got smoked by LSU doesn't mean their not ALMOST a Top Tier program.

LSU completely dominated that game...the yards WVU got were MOSTLY allowed by LSU ...quick hit short passes and run after catch yards.

After rewatching the game...LSU was in complete control of the entire game regardless of the stats...complete

If Geno stays, where would he go?
Please don't say the NFL.
He is not ready for the NFL

We just need a year or two to get the personnel to have a balanced attack. Holgorsen averaged nearly 200 rushing yards per game last year in Oklahoma State.

This year our running backs are all true freshman and our run blocking has been bad. This should be improved and make our offense more difficult to defend.

He'll stay for his senior year, and then he'll be an NFL prospect IMO. I don't know why you would assume he's not an NFL level QB, I mean as of right now, probably not, but given the rest of this season and that of next, why not?

For the record I never thought Newton was an NFL level QB, and look at him.

Wow, my gosh. I'm sure a lot of teams have YAC and quick hit short passes. It's their offense.

Well LSU is expected to compete for the National Title. Most people would expect them to be in complete control over a game vs a team not even ranked in the TOP 10.

I disagree...
Florida won 2 championships and Auburn won last year running versions of the spread.
Also, If Mo doesn't run that kickoff back, we could have easily lost that game...

Then why didnt ur Ad give dana free range? Why was he forced to keep the cancerous staff? Will you make the same excuse next year if coaches are replaced? Ur rt the best players on ur team were not recruited by dana. Without them yall would have been shut out.

Yes because that was the entire fan base you idiot.

How about keeping your mouth shut and just look like an a-hole instead of speaking and proving you are one?

Looking at all your posts, you are far from classy yourself.
