I'm not desperate for money. I know silver and gold has skyrocketed in the past few years. Just want some opinions.

Well, I wouldn't buy any more, that's for sure.

Smart trade, IMO, would be to sell those and use the proceeds to buy APC, XOM, BP, SLB/HAL, and APA stock.

No. Don't do it. You'll be sick to your stomach if you.

Do you think the price of silver will continue to rise? I figured the price maxed out earlier this year around $49 an ounce.

Which do you think is the best? Where do you see XOM going?

I hope you sold your silver yesterday. Ag is down 9% ($3.50) this morning. Gold is only down 4% (-$73/oz.).

I'm heavy in BP, but I really like APA as well.

This is just a sector bet though. Give up dollar devaluation protection of precious metals and pick up dollar devaluation protection of oil.

by trading the coins in for dollars, you instantly lose some of the reasons for holding the coins to begin with ... If I were you, I'd sell some, but wait until the next big panic day where it skyrockets

My grandfather worked at a dog track for many years. He would count a lot of the money they took in at night. He used to trade his personal money for silver pieces and other unique coins. He would come to visit every 6 months or so when I was a child. He always brought me coins every time he came and I just kept accumulating coins. I had forgotten about the coins until the other day. I was shocked to see how much silver had gone up this year.

Maybe i'm weird, but I would never sell anything my grandfather got me. I don't care what its dollar value is.

Well I was planning on keeping coins from the 1800s. But all the silver dimes, and quarters must go.

Yes, I know the price of silver will continue to rise. Central banks and people around world, with the exception of stupid Americans (~99%) are buying precious metals because they know that fiat currency is a dead currency walking. Investments don't move in a straight line. You're going to be absolutely shocked at the rising prices of precious metals over the coming years.

I would be happy to purchase your silver dimes and quarters at spot price. Current prices per pre-1964 dimes and quarters are $2.69 and $6.71 each, respectively.
