Is the gameday atmosphere going south?

Not to harp or be a downer, an honest question. With conference expansion, the new $40 parking fees, season tickets supposedly going to corporations, and AT MOST one decent LSU night game a year, is the gameday atmosphere not going to be quite what it used to be?
I am a current student from out-of-state and die-hard LSU football fan as long as I can remember. All I ever heard about was the great tailgating all day long, and then heading to game obnoxious and drunk as piss just before the sun goes down. And don't get me wrong, we do not dissapoint. I'm definitely getting up several hours early for the Kentucky game and loving every minute of it, but day games never feel quite the same even against a Florida or Bama. And there seems to be so much more emphasis on $$$ these days, instead of focusing on the college football experience that is Saturdays.
Our team looks pretty ridiculous this year, and LSU gamedays will always be special. But has the golden age of our gameday atmosphere begun to fade? Or is it a case of the grass is always greener?
TIA
As a side note:
If Mizzou and A&M are accepted and Auburn moves to the East, will they bring out the same reaction from our fanbase? I personally would much rather travel to Auburn than either of those, even though I can't stand the Aubies.

The answer to your question is no. It's the best gameday atmosphere in all college football.
And, going to College Station >> Armpit, I mean, Auburn Alabama.

I think TV networks are destroying the game day atmosphere. Theres a real possibility that the only night game at Tiger Stadium this year will be the NW game.

Let me guess, OP expects nice facilities at LSU as well.

TV networks are the reason college football is what it is today. There are certain negatives that go along with this, but the positives far outweigh those negatives IMO. Go back to 1980 and look at the trajectory of the sport.

good point.
but it could also be argued that it is getting too big for its own good, not to say it's anyones fault (eta.. except Verne Lundquist's of course). especially for a sport that centers around "amateurs"

The only way to get most of our games at night is to revert back to the LSU of the 1990's. Yep, start losing again.
Much prefer to win in the sun than lose in the dark.

Meh...each year is different.
Last season, LSU had 4 night games in TS.
This season, likely 2.
This season, there are not a lot of compelling other teams in the SEC, so LSU gets chosen for more daytime games.
It ebbs and flows. This year is odd for the smaller number of home games at all. Couple that with UGA and AU being so down and it means fewer night games this season.
No big deal.

The gameday atmosphere started going south when people started thinking this is what it's all about, imo.

Gameday is awesome at night and just ok for day games. If you are talking about the entire gameday experience night games rule, and that goes for most schools.
For all the posters that say if we sucked we get more night games not totally true. With more TV time they need games to fill air time, plenty of crappy teams on every week.
What we will never get back is the number of night games vs good teams.
Change happens..

Then to be honest, you really don't have enough data to even suggest this. What exactly are you basing this opinion on...your memories from the good ole days of 2001?
Game day is essentially just as I remember it going back to my first game as a 12 year old in 1982... That's actually not quite right. there was no where NEAR the amount of tailgating then and parking was no where as difficult. I distinctly remember parking quite near the stadium probably across from Alex Box in what was a grass lot at the time no earlier than 2 for a night game. Try that shite anywhere on campus today.
