We beat the #3 team, #25 team, and maybe the #16... Not complaining bout being ranked 2nd, but we have to steal some 1st place votes if we beat West Virginia.

I don't think the voters would give us much respect considering that OU beat #5 FSU and Alabama is playing the #13 this week. We might get one or two, but not many. It's all not going to matter come Nov. 5.

Was wondering about this with no facts or stats in hand. Is it better/easier to sit at #2 and possibly lose 1 game and work your way back to #2 than it is from #1? Seem that #1 falls further with a 'good' loss than #2 does. This is purely speculative from memory so any facts/insight welcomed.
I was just thinking of the benefits of hanging out at #2 and playing tough all year.
