Mullens doesn't seem to have the temperament to handle the reality of his situation. MSU will still have lesser athletes and he will need to not try raise hell on the refs like he some kind of Nick Saban. He has enough Street cred to rule the sidelines. He is was hired by a low level school cause they couldn't afford a proven coach.

And he may want not just pick on the black ref cause it seems easier. I say he is gone in 3 years.

Perhaps, but stomping Michigan in the Gator Bowl and winning 7-8 games a year is pretty good for Moo State

He's going to get a better job before that

He's taken State as far as they can possibly go.

If he's gone it wont be because of his coaching abilities. The guy's a good coach, he's just go to get out of that environment where he can't draw the talent

He's liable to get another, better job in the SEC. Very soon.

His star isn't fading. He's just reached the glass ceiling in Starkville. He's an absolutely great coach, and if you stop & think that if Scam Newton & the Right Reverend Cecil Newton weren't total parasites, then they'd have easily signed with State, then you realize the type of season they "could" have had by redshirting Relf last year and then playing him the next two seasons.

He has completely turned around the culture of their program, and his star is nowhere near fading. Very well thought of as a playcaller and an offensive mind. He's done very well there.

Gfunk....you might have nailed it.

Maybe his frustration is that he HAS realized his situation is not good.

He'll win 7 or 8 games there each year and as long as one of them is Ole Miss he'll be there until he gets a better offer.

I think the guy is a good coach. We don't automatically call it a win when he steppednin as MSU's coach. My Bama friends here don't overlook this cat also.

Mississippi State was less then a yard away from defeating Auburn on the road.

And played a top 3 team on a short week and for the most part was in the game till late.

State has a good offense. It seems though that LSU and Alabama are the only ones that know defense. Arkansas and Florida are unknown since they've played high school teams.

In the coaching profession things can change very quickly. As good a team as LSU has let them not make it to Atlanta for a 4th straight year and see how much Tiger fans love him.

He won't win anywhere until he learns how to properly funnel benefits to recruits and their families. Cheating: it's the winner's way.

Lots of folks in the know say Richt is essentially gone already. The start has doomed him without a miracle run.

Georgia would be extremely silly not to give him a look. He has proven himself capable at a program like Mississippi State in a much more rugged SEC West. He's got huge disadvantages there.

Georgia would give him more fertile recruiting ground, more ins towards Florida, and a turnkey elite program that's got state of the art facilities, tradition, & a thirst to hit the reset button & refocus. It's a recipe for success for a new coach.
