Maybe you can chalk it up to an old man's Budweiser, but what if ........
FlSt beats OK - normal season upsets occur
LSU BAMA ends in a 3 point winner
Yields an undefeated SEC champ & an 11-1 loser
Does the BCS have what it takes to rematch the obvious two best teams in college football?

Replay of LSU-ND ball for the Crystal Ball!

I know, it's probably a senile moment, but at least I can still dream ....... and drink

Michigan/Ohio State leads me to believe no, this won't happen.

It happened to me on NCAA '11. I went undefeated as LSU, and the only game Bama lost was to me. I'm not sure if the game takes NCAA rules and regulations into account when it comes to things like this, but it happened.

Technically, it could happen but the voters wouldn't allow it a la Michigan/OSU 2006.

Even if LSU were to be the only undefeated and Bama was in the mix with other 1-loss teams, one of those other 1-loss teams would get the nod, especially since it would mean that they won their conference.

The only way I could see this happening is if there were no other 1 loss teams. I also don't think it's fair to the winner of the first game. Why should that team have to beat the same team twice in a season?

Everyone else besides Boise State has two losses but LSU and Bama in the scenario above, does a one loss LSU/Alabama stay ahead of a one loss Boise to meet alabama/lsu?

If Boise's loss is to TCU or another team that finishes in the top 15-ish, then I'm thinking no.

How you like this scenario?

Alabama 12-0
Oregon 11-1
LSU 11-1
Boise state 12-0

With the politics involved in college football these days, this scenario would yield a Bama/Boise NC.

Michigan/OSU is a bad example. Neither of them played a conference championship game, and Michigan lost the last game of it's season almost 50 days before the National Championship. Florida, who replaced Michigan, was also on a 7 game winning streak at the time of Michigans loss. If Bama were to lose to us they would still have 3 more games to win and go 11-1. In those three weeks that leaves room for LSU to remain #1 and Bama to climb up from no worse then #5 if they lose by 3 points. I think if any of the teams ahead of Bama have more then 1 loss then they are automatically out. If any team ahead of Bama has 1 loss to a weaker opponent (such as boise losing to TCU or Nevada) or lost at any point after them, then it is very plausible that Bama vs LSU could happen in the BCSNCG

Only way I see it is if LSU is undefeated, Alabama has 1 loss, and the other teams either have 2 losses or they lose in their conference championship game (losing late thus dropping them in the polls and 'Bama jumps them).

I agree with the absolute logic of what you're saying, but with things the way they are, voters would be very reticent to put Bama in the NC game against LSU again. It is true that there are some scenarios in which it would almost be ludicrous not to rematch Bama/LSU but those scenarios are highly unlikely.

Gary Danielson had verbalized this before. Good idea.
