WALK-ONS
According to this article, Oregon has 5 players who are either current or former walk-ons in the 2-deep depth chart.
Oregonian
Starters:
Justin Hoffman - JR. WR 6'1" 201lbs (former walk-on)
Ramsen Golpashin - SR. Guard 6'4" 275 (former walk-on)
Backups:
Blake Thompson - SO. MLB 5'10" 230 lb. walk-on
Will Murphy - JR. WR 6'2" 183 lb walk-on
Mana Greig - SO. Guard 5'11" 291 lb walk-on
There are no walk-ons (present or former) on LSU's 2-deep chart. Nor can I recall a time in the past 10 years when this has been the case. Maybe somebody can help me out. Don't say Graff. I'm not looking into special teams.
Freshmen (incl. Redshirts)
Oregon's 2-deep includes four freshmen:
Hroniss Grasu | 6-3, 274, Fr., RS starting at center.
Terrance Mitchell | 6-0, 183, Fr., RS starting at corner
Ifo Ekpre-Olomu | 5-10, 182, Fr., HS backup corner
Colt Lyerla | 6-5, 225, Fr., HS backup TE
Of these freshmen, Lyerla was a 5* recruit, Ifo was a 4* recruit, Mitchell has no rating on rivals, and Grasu was a 3* recruit.
LSU's 2-deep chart includes:
DT Anthony Johnson |6-3 294, Fr.-HS
That is all. Of course, LSU is relatively thin at WR thanks to the suspension of R. Shepard, so freshmen Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry may see time in 3WR sets.
I know games aren't won on paper, but if they were, LSU sure seems to have the edge. When you match the experience and talent up and down the depth chart, LSU has a substantial advantage.
TL;DR - LSU has more depth and lines up fewer freshmen against UO.
