What to look for to determine whether we can make a real run at NO

As I wait in Dallas for my pickup I started thinking of how I will know this LSU team is for real.
Realistically, the offense will have to be more than just a little improved. I do not believe the defense will be as good as last year, and special teams certainly will not be. This isn't to say they will be average, but the offense must be significantly better for us to make a true run.
I do think we are good enough on offense and special teams to win, but the offense really needs to avoid the multiple 3 and out scenarios we have unfortunately come to expect. If we can be on the right side of the turnover battle, and have some time consuming drives (even if we don't score) it should give our defense the ability to play to it's maximum potential.
Anyway...geaux tigers!
