Not sure how it was accomplished, but a person successfully racked up ~$85 buying points.

Luckily, I receive email notifications from Xbox Live as charges are accrued, so I was able to report the unauthorized access pretty quickly, before the spending got out of hand. I was able to get my account "frozen" before the nerds could "redeem" the points for something, also.

The only real downside (other than inconvenience) is that it takes 3-4 weeks for Xbox to "investigate" in order for me to receive a refund.

Beware, folks.

Do what a buddy of mine did. Call up your bank and tell them that it wasn't you who purchased that product. They should cancel the charge. Only downside was he had to get a new debit card. Plus, his was a few hundred bucks not 85 dollars.

Be sure to keep on MS about the investigation. There are documented issues with how MS misses things.

this thread made me go and change my password for live.

admittedly I'd been meaning to do it for a while because I felt my password was fairly weak, but this gave me the push I needed.

hope your problem gets resolved quickly and smoothly.

oddly enough my PS3 account wasn't even hacked during the PS3 major hack. I guess you should have bought a PS3 lol just kidding...

I sincerely hope that MS is able to give you a quick turn around on your investigation. People who hack really piss me off, regardless of why they do it.
