I've got a couple putters and thinking of experimenting with a belly putter. Found this "belly putter conversion kit". Just wondering if anyone has used something like this?

I am not secure enough in my masculinity to try a belly putter. Best of luck though.

I played around with a belly putter in Dick's the other day, but I didn't like it at all. Very awkward. I actually thought I would like it, but I couldn't keep the putter on a straight line back and through. It may not have been the right length for me though.

interesting... i was under the impression that they were easier to use and nearly automatic within 5-6'. The way the announcers talk it sounds like they may get outlawed pretty soon.

I could see the USGA having an issue with it, but I still don't think it's that big of a deal. If it was so advantageous, there would be a lot more players using it.

I liked what one announcer said. They should outlaw the ability to anchor the club to your body.
Do I think it is unfair. I honestly don't know. But I do get mad when they get to use the long putter as a club length for a free drop.

Yea, I saw a player do that at the Zurich Classic this year. His ball was on the cart path, and he damn near was able to get a drop in the fairway by using his long putter. It just didn't sit well with me either.

Like I said above, it may be beneficial for some, but I found it very awkward for the 4-5 putts I hit with it. Maybe I would get used to it if I had one properly fit for me, but I definitely didn't just pick it up and start making everything I looked at.

None of the best putters on tour use them. Guys like Stricker, Fowler (his stats are good...look it up), and Donald don't use them. I think that putting is what separates the good from the great and since putting is so mental, guys are looking for something to get their confidence right so they can roll them with confidence. I don't see any reason to outlaw them though. Just had the first major winner EVER with a long putter and they've been around for a while now, so I can't see how you could argue that there is a statistically proven advantage.

I agree. I'd rather see the USGA tackle the ball and clubs before worrying about putters.

It looks like a good concept, but it has a major problem. It will mess up the swingweight (balance) of the putter. Belly putter heads are about 50 grams heavier than the standard putter and you cannot add enough lead tape to bring the swingweight back up.

I bought that exact same thing a couple of weeks ago from Edwin Watts ... I went ahead and bought a Winn Mid size grip and removed the grip on the extension and my putter grip ... So now I have just one grip on the putter ... The only issue with that is that there is a plastic rim on the extension where it meets the shaft of your putter ..

It is kind of hard to explain but some of this plastic rim fits inside your putter shaft to make sure the fit is secure ... Well that is awesome unless you want to have one grip on the putter and want to re grip (because a new grip will not fit over the plastic rim .. and even if it did you would have a larger lump under the grip) ... I had to cut the plastic rim off and then add some grip tape in side of the shaft to secure the fit of the extension inside the putter shaft ...

Anywho ... It has been fine and I have had zero problems with the performance of the putter .. I would recommend that product ..

ETA: I also had to add some lead tape on the bottom of my putter to account for the extra length of the shaft ...

I had not thought of the weight issue... that's a good point.

So, how have the results been - can we change your name to 2 putt now?

You better be good with a belly putter if you put it in your bag. The first 3 putt and your friends are going to rag you.

I started putting side saddle about a month ago and it's the same.

It just feels comfortable to me. Like one of the guys said on Youtube, if you were to give a kid a ball and tell him to toss it to the hole, he wouldn't turn sideways and throw across his body.

You guys probably won't believe me, but this product, the [link=(www.bellyputt.com)]Belly Putt[/link] conversion kit is my dad's product. He invented it from scratch almost 2 years ago and it has been slow and steady sales until the PGA Championship was won with a belly putter and now sales are literally BOOMING!

It's very interesting to see a product go from idea, to concept, to prototype, to success.

Anyway, I have quit my former job in sales and am now helping run the company because it has gotten way too big for him to run on his own. We are from Lafayette, La and any of you guys out there even thinking about belly putting... go buy our product, it's only $39.99 as opposed to going out and buying a custom made belly putter for $250 plus. You can use to practice or play, your call.

Thought I should share my story, help support this Louisiana based company!
