When my daughter got a full scholly to Tulane, I honestly tried to become a fan and booster of Tulane athletics.

Now, I'm fine with the thought that my daughter is now 21 and an adult, and there is no need for me to root for a school just because she goes there.

You've never seen more delusional people than these folks on Tulane message boards.

They are actually wondering, with all this talk of realignment--"if we should go to the Big 12 or ACC" etc.

Some jack leg who calls himself "JDTulane" said: "LSU will never let us back into the SEC" as if THAT is the only reason they could not join the SEC.

I finally got disgusted, threw up my hands and left the whole mess.

You folks at Tulane need to understand: College football is evolving, it's a huge game of musical chairs and the big boys are calling the shots.

If your AD ever DID call the Big 12 or ACC commissioners about admission, the only sound on the other end would be said commisioner falling out of his chair laughing.

You don't draw 4000 actual Tulane fans' butts-in-the-seats for a game. Good high school programs draw more.

At Tulane home games, the Superdome is like a morgue. I have counted ON ONE HAND the student section.

You are a bottom feeder in a crap conference, and you'll probably end up in a crappier conference when all this is said and done. You'll take what the big boys leave you because you have no choice in the matter.

Another Greenie delusion: "The big conferences want our TV market in New Orleans." Hell, they'd probably consider UNO just as much, if that is all there was to it. With Tulane's crappy football program and attendance, they would be a drag and a dead weight on any BCS conference, which is why said BCS conferences would respond with nothing but laughter to the thought of Tulane in their conference.

All this is a result of over 50 years of bad decisions. Too bad, so sad. Build your 25K seat on campus stadium and move down to 1AA. I really think that is your best option.

There are a few decent guys who post on gotula.net who are aware of the problems with their administration. Unfortunately, they are far too few,and far too late.

The majority of Tulane fans are delusional old folks who still want to put their noses in the air, not understanding that LSU will catch up to Tulane in academics a helluva lot faster than Tulane will catch up to LSU in athletics.

I tried to be a fan but now, Tulane is merely the university my daughter attends.

the majority of Tulane Fans are sure as hell not current students

I'm dating a girl from Tulane with a fairly large circle of friends, all Tulane students. Only one of those friends has ever been to a Tulane game, and he just went to the one. He's also the only one from New Orleans.

I would suggest they go either the route of the University of Chicago and drop atheletics all together, or drop down to the level of WashU STL and drop to division III. Stop wasting money on a program that has been hanging out to dry for a very long time.

I think with the right administration--which they are far from, at present--they could make it in 1AA.

Some of those guys don't want to build a 25K seat stadium on campus, because they are hanging on to the illusion they are a legit BCS-level program. Hell, they get mad if you call them a "mid-major."

Their actual attendance is indeed closer to a Division II or III school.

Tulane's academics are good, but have been declining. The latest Forbes list ranks Tulane 190th in the country.

My daughter is on scholarship, so I have no complaints as far as my wallet, but it does burn me up that tuition there is on par with Harvard and Yale, and Tulane's academics are probably not on par with Rice, Duke, etc.

U-Chicago can make it without athletics--it's one of the 3-4 elite academic schools in the country.

Tulane's academics are very good. But not even close to UChicago's.

I read that board fairly often and this place is just as delusional if not more so.

Pretty much not going to happen any time soon. You're just as ignorant as any of the guys on YOGWF.

This is complete bullshite. You must not be overly involved with our concerned for your daughter's education if you're posting something so blatantly incorrect. The university is far better now in most ways than it was before the storm.

Oh and BTW, if you had even glanced at the Forbes methodology you would see how ridiculous those rankings are.

TTF, you don't read very well, do you?

I AM concerned enough about my daughter's education that it is indeed, to use your expression, "complete bullshite" that Tulane's tuition is so high for their academic standing.

Nice reasoning. If Tulane was still top fifty, you'd no doubt be praising the Forbes rankings. But no, they are "complete bullshite" ... the same expression Dickson no doubt uses when he's faced with what the criteria is for accepting a school into a legitimate conference.

But keep spouting your "complete bullshite" response in the face of the facts. It seems to be a common thing around St. Charles Avenue--uh, excluding the thousands of LSU fans in uptown NOLA.

Based on quotes from Cowen and Dickson I'd put money that Dickson hasnt even tried to move better conference. You sure have a lot of animosity towards Tulane for a guy who was "trying to be a fan" not long ago.
