Youth bat changes

With the upcoming changes in USSSA regulations for bats, what is your choice for the new 2012 models coming out? I have seen the Demarini Voodoo -9 and the Easton Omen -10. Both seem to perform okay but I am still shopping.

My brothers team dspises them. I think its in the kids head right now but man are batting averages going to drop

I agree that averages will drop, but pitchers should be happy. I have seen many strikeout pitches turn into basehits or HRs with some of the old composites.

i know. just wish my brother pitched. it'll be his first year of varsity and he's a monster hitter. just sucks this happened right now

my son plays Little League and not USSSA, but LL banned certain bats starting last January.
He started with the VooDoo, but is now hitting a -10 Omen with very good results.

This is always the best idea. Use wood for the majority of practice and then let him use metal in practices leading up to games and in games. For kids that young there really isn't that much of a difference in bats but I suggest going with the youth versions of the Easton Power Brigade bats. They will be released in mid-september but I got to try them out and they really are badass, a lot better than the Omens IMO.

It really doesn't matter because everyone else had to use those bats also and scouts are well aware of the changes. I would suggest he goes with the Easton Power Brigade XL version if he is a power hitter or the S version if he is a smaller guy. All other companies besides Easton release their bats during the CWS. Since BBCOR is a new technology 6 months makes a big difference, even with the BBCOR limitations, and the Easton Power Brigades are A LOT better than the DiMarinis. The high end Power Brigades are $399 but if he is a varsity player looking to play in college or get drafted it is well worth the money!

I may have to look at the Easton PB. Baseball has become more expensive than freaking golf.

Will these be made in the big barrel -9 or -10? I found the -3 adult big barrel and the -10/-12 in the small barrel.
