I just wanted to get some of u guys opinions on what yall think the 2 deep depth chart would look like when ran our version of the 3-4. Here is my opinion:

RDE: 1.) Turk McBride 2.) Sedrick Elliis
NT: 2.) Aubroyo Franklin 2.) Shaun Rodgers
LDE: 1.) Cameron Jordan 2.) Shaun Rodgers

ROLB: 1.) Junior Galette 2:) Will Smith
RILB: 1.)Jonathan Vilma 2.) Clint Ingram
LILB: 1.) Scott Shanle 2.) Will Herring
LOLB: 1.) Will smith 2.) Jeff Charleston

Of course CB & safetys would be the same.

And a few things.

1.)I think Will smith is athletic enough to play any of the DE or OLB spotS in the 3-4.

2.) I think Shaun Rodgers is athletic enough to play NT or either DE and would rotate in often

3.) I could easily see Will Herring beating out Scott Shanle to win the starting spot next to Vilma because of his ability to cover TEs. I could also see an ILB tandem of Shanle and Herring often to give Vilma a break due to his stature. I know Vilma isn't a big fan of the 3-4 and is a little light for the ILB in the scheme but it is hard to keep him off the field but if one of the other guys can make the play calls( or maybe one of the safteys who both seem like students of the game and are both knowledgeable in football) then this would be a good time to lessen Vilma's snap count.

4.) I could see Jeff Charleston being a good OLB in the 3-4 kinda like Ron Nikovich( who we all know) of the Pats. An OLB tandem of Galette and Charleston would be ideal if they wanted to play Willy Will at DE in the 3-4 sometimes or lessen his snap count as well.

And last but not least
5.) Martez Wilson could be the wild card factor here if he can grasp the playbook. He has the size and athleticism to excel at all four LB spots in the 3-4. But again with the lockout and shortened offseason he is gonna have a hard enough time grasping his assignments and responsibilities in Greg Williams's base 4-3 not to mention trying to learn 3-4 alignments as well. Which is why I left him out.

Gimme yall opinions

Will Smith is big enough to play 3-4 end right now. He should be very close to 290 if not already. Shaun Rogers has had some experience as a DE.

I'm not sure I'd want Will Smith to cover a TE. I don't think he has the speed to drop into coverage. I could be wrong about the ROLB's role in a 3-4.

I think I heard somewhere that will has lost some wait and is down closer to 270 which with his athleticism and technique I still think he can play some end.

Shaun Rodgers having some experience at end is a good thing. He has the size of a most tackle but rare athletictsm for man that big. Him next to Franklin in a 3-4 would also be beastly

I hope he isn't 290....that would be a disappointment.

He has supposedly lost about 20 lbs and is in the 275 range...
