I join free leagues all the time and most or all of the players participate. Don't worry about pay vs. free.
You can join a random league on most sites, or you could start a league and come here to invite people.

Might have a spot open up, had a guy move to Dallas. 13 team league, $106 per man, $300 to first, $150 to second, $50 a week to the highest scoring team.

Join a league on Yahoo. You can read league discriptions and there are many that are money leagues. Just have to email the commish to apply.
