How much of an effect will Willie Lyles have on this Game between Oregon & LSU?

These 2 paragraphs bother me more concerning LSU and what he is going to reveal about the way LSU used him and his service if that is what you want to call it during recruiting over the last 4 years?
What the outcome of what he says he has done with the recruiting of Kids that eventually signed with LSU is hidden somewhere in those two paragrphs and the sentences I have highlited in bold type.
I firmly beleive that if the NCAA wants to find something about LSU and Willie Lyles wants to try and clear his name the way he says he does, "will make this game a game between what could have beens.'
I also feel LSU will be where Oregon is now in about 2 or so weeks. Watch out SEC Media Days! will be a trying time for LSU and Les Miles much in the way of Oregon and Chip Kelly.

Lyles on LSU
quote:
Lyles is interesting. He's flawed, but trying, like the rest of us. There's a bit of smooth-talker in him, but you could say the same of most college coaches. What's true is that Lyles didn't have a clue how to run and organize a sophisticated business operation, but there's no doubting why the recruits connect with him and why coaches felt they needed him.
I called him scum when this story broke. I wished him a Happy Fourth of July four months later. What else do you do with a guy who tells you he's done wrong, broken rules, been dumb, but wants to clear his name and do better?

I think your worries are mostly unfounded. From what I've seen, LSU has been diligent about making sure that what they were doing was legit, and they got all the needed documentation. If every team that used this guys for a recruiting service (or his previous employer) is going to get hit with sanctions, then they'll be taking out most of the top 20.
Now, if there was some illegal transaction going on that we haven't seen yet, then that's a different story, but I would hope that LSU was smart enough not to play that game with a rank amateur.

Lache Seastrunk probably won't be eligible... possible LaMichael James as well.
And Kelly is questionable for the game as well. While the whole situation is unfortunate, it definitely works out in LSU's favor

The NCAA moves at a glacial pace, so I do not believe anything happens before the game. We may have in our hip pocket an Oregon forfeit, if they beat us. Oregon will do nothing because that would be an admission of guilt and they are in cover up mode.

none.
Here is what is most important:
"There was no quid pro quo," Lyles said, claiming no school, including Oregon, ever asked him to direct a player. "Never. It wouldn't make sense for me to help one school. I was trying to get every school to buy my service. That was my business."

Gameday is going to have a field day with it.
The very first gameday of the season will probably be ENTIRELY about all the offseason violations, and then Saturday Selections, and then it's over.

Was Lyles also allowed to call plays last year for his $6,000?
If so, I hope he doesn't have a headset on this year.
It' easy to downplay this. But what was LSU doing paying this guy anyway. He was horrible. His had pretty good connections, but his recruiting services sucked.
Saying that you paid Willie Lyles for his scouting services is saying that you read Playboy for the articles.

It depends on who he's calling plays for I guess.

That is not what he states right here in this statement about how he got James and Seastrunk signed with Oregon. This article tells the whole story of their recruitment and he says others.
Scout details relationship with Oregon, Kelly
quote:
Lyles insists Oregon did not make a direct request or payment to steer recruits to Eugene. However, he now says Oregon did not pay him for his work as a traditional scout, but for his influence with top recruits and their families and his ability to usher prospects through the signing and eligibility process. That dual role as mentor to prospects and paid contractor to Oregon is believed to be a focus of the NCAA probe.
“I look back at it now and they paid for what they saw as my access and influence with recruits,” Lyles said. “The service I provided went beyond what a scouting service should … I made a mistake and I’m big enough of a man to admit I was wrong.”
Calls and text messages to Chip Kelly’s two cell phones were not returned.
Oregon spokesman Dave Williford said the university maintains its stance that there was no wrongdoing, and that comment will be withheld until the NCAA’s investigation has been resolved.
“Our stance hasn’t changed from our original statement,” Williford said. “We believe we did nothing wrong.”
The NCAA will not comment on an active investigation.
If he would do it to Oregon he will do it for all of them because like you said what he does for one he does for them all because that is his business. It will be up to the NCAA to decide if he played outside the lines or not. This started with Kelly saying he did not know lyles and what did Miles say? he said I do not know Lyles. If LSU does to him what Oregon did to him then it will have the same results. JMHO!
quote:
LSU coach Les Miles told CBSSports.com Friday he didn't know who Willie Lyles was until he saw him in December at the college football awards show in Orlando, Fla.

So what? You think the NCAA will just say "No quid pro quo" so nothing to see here, no violations occurred?
Seriously dude?

Who the hell knows?
All eyes are on Oregon now re: Lyles but Oregon has a lot more 'splainin to do based on everything Lyles has disclosed and can back up with phone records, etc.
So far, he has disclosed very little about LSU and LSU got something tangible (for far less money) from Lyles long before the media started nosing around.
Not to say LSU couldn't be in serious trouble as well, but it's impossible for us to know right now. From what we know today, LSU might be guilty of some ticky tack minor violations because Lyles allegedly tagged along with recruits and/or coaches from LSU. That's child's play compared to what is alleged against Oregon right now.
Much of this will come out eventually but it probably won't be concluded before Labor Day. The NCAA would like to wrap it up before then but they rarely move that fast. Lyles actually embarrassed the NCAA by saying he didn't lie to them but many of the questions Yahoo asked him in June were never asked by the NCAA when the NCAA interviewed him in March. In other words, the NCAA wouldn't know jack shite if Yahoo hasn't done the serious investigative reporting to get us to this point. So I wouldn't hold out hope that the NCAA will conclude any investigation into Oregon (or LSU) before this game is played.

We ALL KNOW YOU ARE A DUCK FAN! PLEASE LEAVE!
He doesn't have to say anything to the NCAA if he doesn't want to. there is no quid pro quo. PERIOD.

NCAA, along with everyone else, wants good TV ratings for this game. I doubt they'll do anything to cripple Oregon before the big opener. Plus, they (NCAA) operate at a pace slower than a Sumo wrestler running a 5K.

As a constant in the ATPB thread, you should just stay there. Quit looking. It'll come out soon if LSU did wrong. So far, Oregon seems to be the only school to have done serious wrongdoing in regards to Lyles. Your constant "investigation" into these programs is both annoying and mere speculation.
