...right now about not having hired Klinsmann as a coach?

klinsman turned out to be a paper tiger, so we dodged a bullet there

I don't think so. I don't think the result would have been different with a new manager. we were unlucky to lose dolo, and bornstein coming in says more about our depth than it does the quality of coaching.

Klinnsman isn't the messiah we think he is. Bielsa would be the man, IMO.

To be fair, one reason repeat coaches tend to fail the second time around is they seem to have a loyalty to some of the older guys.

I do agree with this assessment.

Ehhh, I think we would have been better off bringing in Ream, move him to the center, and put Boca at RB and move Lichaj to LB.
I wish we had Chandler.

I agree. Anything is better than fricking Johnny Nocoordination

It's easy to say that when there is no way of proving one way or the other.

Impossible to know. Bornstein wasn't terrible in the World Cup. He probably earned some confidence from Bobbo then. Personally I would have liked to see Spector come in, but with him its the same... zero experience in this tournament prior to this match. And I like Ream, I really do, but no way is he ready for Mexico IMO. I could be wrong though.

Come on man. If Jurgen was a great coach, he'd have a job. Jurgen is a charming man who people like but Germany's success in the 2006 World Cup was with Joachim Loew as his assistant. Jurgen got the Bayern job without Loew and he didn't last a year. Jurgen isn't the man for the USMNT.

I'll give Bornstein this, he is good at moving up when in the attacking third and sending a dangerous cross in the box, but the problem is he is too slow and suffers from "ball-watching" that every time someone counters (especially with the speed Mexico has), he finds himself trailing way back, totally opening the left side for an easy shot on target.
It burned us twice yesterday.

Bornstein's balls into the box are awful a lot of the time and he's not a smart defender. He's always in terrible positions and doesn't recover well.

That is a true statement. IMO US soccer still needs to go through multiple stages of evolution to become a serious contender at World Cups. Standing pat with a coach with limited upside is not the proper path to success. Nothing against Bradley because I think he was the right man through the last World Cup but I believe we needed a coach at least a notch above to proceed on the proper path. Hell, I am not a Klinsmann pitchman. I used him as an example because he was a leading candidate but there were a myriad of options that could have propelled the US to a higher international level. So my statement wasn't necessarily intended as a cheap shot at Bradley and more as a philosophical approach to US soccer in general.

I agree with your assessment that Bob has been here too long but I have a feeling we wouldn't all be thrilled with Jurgen. I'd give him my support but I'd be reserved in my expectations. Now if we were to hire someone like Bielsa, I'd jerk off into a sock.

I wouldn't mind this guy, just to see what he could do on a bigger stage.

I think Kreis is a great manager. I don't know if he's ready for a national team job yet though. I wouldn't be disappointed.

Should take over after 2014, IMO.
