I'm watching parts of Seven on AMC for the second time tonight. I love this movie, for me, almost Silence of the Lambs type appreciation. Fincher, Pitt, Freeman, Spacey, a young Gwyneth all kind of before they became megastars, it's so damn dark, grisly, but pretty smart. It just creeped me out for days after I saw it. Mrs. Fury was giving me shite because she says she doesn't like Brad Pitt in this, or in much of anything. I dig Brad Pitt, and of course told her to shut it. Also, she thinks Mills goes to jail at the end. I say no way, what jury would convict a guy for that? In real life, I'd be pissed if he was even on trial for killing John Doe for what he did.

ETA: Seven is why I have such high hopes for Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...it's right in Fincher's wheel house.

I think it's a great movie, but not one of Pitt's better performances. I think they could have picked someone else to play his part and the film would be 4 stars instead of 3.5. It's not that important...he obviously delivered to most. Still, what if the role would have been given to someone like Josh Brolin? Christian Bale? Ethan Hawke? I am not saying those gusy would have done any better...just wonder if they would have fit the part and done better. It's all trivial. I like the movie a lot, though it's not in my top 20.

I often wonder if Silence of the Lambs would have been even better had Jennifer Jason-Leigh been given the role for Clarice. I know she would have done better than Juilanne Moore in Hannibal, anyway.

Yeah, maybe could've gotten that 4th star with the guys you mentioned, but like you said Pitt delivered for the most part.

I don't think JJL could've done any better than Foster. Probably comes off more believable than Julianne Moore in that role.

It's kind of an awkward dinner they're having, she hates it there, they're both pissed and a little embarrassed by their loud arse, vibrating apartment...it was just a release they all needed to laugh. More about the characters relaxing around each other than the joke itself.

Yeah, just a silly habit/half-hobby of mine is watching movies and then thinking who might have been better in the role. Imagine Seven with Christian Bale and Danny Glover with the wife being Jennifer Jason Leigh and John Doe being Joe Pataliano.

Exactly. We got dealt a pretty good hand in the cast they went with.

It was a good movie and many people said they were shocked by the ending. But I saw the ending coming from a mile away.

Perhaps I have just seen too many movies with a twist at the end. But it didn't surprise me at all.

Why would I lie about that? The ending of "Primal Fear" shocked me. But not the ending of Seven. Why would I need to lie about that?

What end did you see? Because if you're saying that you "figured out" that Kevin Spacey was gonna have killed his wife and shipped her head to the scene where they were, and that Brad Pitt was gonna kill him and that wrapped up the last two sins, then you are definitely lying. There's no way you could have "figured that out."

This was the part I figured out. What did you think was in the box?

This part not so much.

So you guessed it when you knew there was a box?

That is hardly figuring out "a mile away"

How? There was nothing that would lead you to believe that there would be something shipped there. Or that it was Pitt's wife's head.

I assume that once you saw the delivery guy, you assumed it was something to do with a murder, and once it was his wife's head, you were like "OMG I KNEW IT!!" I'm not trying to call bullshite, but I'm kinda calling bullshite.
