he seemed to be getting better. At least toward the end two or three players actually missed a game or two instead of just a few weeks of spring practice.

A good coach, and a better man.

Please explain how not really punishing the student-athletes under his control for their indiscretions complies with this quote from Tressel when he was hired:
quote:
"I can assure you that you will be proud of our young people in the classroom, in the community and most especially in 310 days in Ann Arbor, Michigan."

Makes you wonder how folks ever bought into the "senator" shite to begin with.

I knew about the YSU stuff, but not the details. It seemed pretty bad.
Then I read the rest of the stuff about Ohio State.
1) It says Bellisari was suspended, then reinstated, making it sound like he didn't miss time, when he missed two games. Definite spin.
2) Says Skeete was reinstated at OSU. He actually transferred.
3) They have stuff like Chris Vance missing two games for underage drinking, as if that means Tress is a monster. How many coaches would suspend anyone for underage drinking, let alone two games?
4) Look at all the arrests in 02 and 03, compared to later years. Those are Coop's players.
And that's just off the top of my head, I'm sure there's more spin wrong than just that.
I am now sure that, at best, the YSU stuff listed is a little spin.

Seeing that Youngstown State was not punished more harshly was surprising to me
The SI piece coming out by Dohrmann (later today apparently) should have some good scoop

Just because he has cheated as much as humanly possible over the last couple of decades doesn't mean he isn't a lovely, lovely man.
