Repair my PS3 with blinking red light or just buy a new one?

Right in the middle of a game of NCAA 12, my PS3 just turns off and beeps 3 times quickly with the red light blinking. I tried to eject the disk and it didn't want to come out at first. I looked up the info to get it out, but discovered that my PS3 has the "blinking red light of death". I got the disk out, but now when it turns on, it beeps 3 times real quick and the red light just blinks.

So my question for those with experience: is it worth it to have my PS3 serviced by somebody here in town, or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new system?

Sorry I'm sure this topic has been discussed ad nauseum on here.

I think the fix, if it works, is very temporary. Play N Trade will repair them in town.

My opinion is to sell the dead one on ebay. Buy a Slim and you should be worry free.

Me and my brother took ours apart and fixed it ourselves. It worked for a day, then stopped. I would just buy a new one..
