Mahtook can be the first SEC player since '74 to lead in HR's and SB

According to the Advocate this morning. Let's hope the Tigers and Mikie can have a great series against Miss. St.

It's starting to really set in.. I'm going to miss him.

Great, maybe he can get thrown out trying to steal 3rd w/ 0 out again chasing this record..

The only problem is that they don't just count regular season stats. And players from teams like Florida, Vandy and South Carolina are probably going to get a lot more at bats than him the rest of the season.

We've had guys with more power, more speed, guys that were better hitters, etc...but there aren't many that were as good as he is as a total player.

that would be such a cheap stat this year with the new bats. plus Mikie had most of his homers the first two weeks of the season against even teams even worse than Kentucky and Tennessee.

But he also didn't see many pitches the 1st half of the SEC schedule

Mahtook IS tops! This would be a tough combo, and I sure hope it happens against those Bulldogs! Side comment: what are the chances that LSU plays in the post-season, after this weekend???

I don't think so. Obviously the HR number is lower than the league leader would have been in any other year in recent memory, but the bats should put more of an emphasis on speed and stolen bases. So it still says something that he leads in that category also, when you would expect it to be some little pesky, leadoff type, slap hitter.

He has hit 7 in non conference play and 6 in conference, which isn't exactly loaded one way or the other. He is third in the league behind Westlake (9) considering league games only. He is still the leader in stolen bases in SEC games only, and he is the leading hitter in conference games only (.411).
It isn't a fluke, nor is it cheap. The guy is good and should easily be the SEC POY.

record for getting caught the most times while attempting to steal a base?

Plus he got robbed a HR that went off the black screen at dead center. Stupid umps called it a live ball off the wall and mikie only got a triple

Who doesn't hit more homeruns against weaker pitching? throw more TDs against weak defenses?

None whatsoever.....everyone is using the same bats this year....which is what he is measuring against.
