55 Gallon Drums near LSU Vet School

Does anybody know the reason for the four 55 gallon drums on the levee next to River Road just south of the vet school? They have what looks like an exhaust pipe sticking out the top and water is streaming out of them. (no pics. sorry)

The are relief wells allowing groundwater to escape

I remember in 2008 (when the MR got pretty high) those things were gushing water. I would imagine they will look like fountains next week.

My company has some about 1.5 miles south of there. The aren't allowing pressure off the levees, but are for measuring the groundwater (piezometers). They normally overflow this time of year but this is going to have them shooting out. The wells are placed anywhere from 50 to over 250 feet deep.
