Whne I go home on leave can I download games from this site and be able to play them back in Afghanistan or will I need to be on the net and linked to steam? TIA

Yes you will. Just log in on what ever computer your at and re-download your games and enjoy.

i mean can I download them to a portable drive and bring them with me? Net is slow over here and when you download big items it really bogs the net down.

Never tried this, but I'm gonna go ahead and guess no since the PC you will be using has a completely different registry than the one you will be downloading on.

u can copy the games! they are in the steamapps folder in the steam folder under program files. also u can setup ur steam to be available offline, u have to check the remember password box tho. then if u try to login without an internet connection it will let u play all ur games
