Drafted players that Miles recruited.

Below are the drafted players recruited by Miles:
A couple of points:
o Peterson is the first round 1 pick
o 14 players drafted; 8 OOS; 6 in state
o Of the 7 players drafted in the first 3 rounds, only 2 from LA
o Off the top of my head, I'm not aware of any other players from LA during this period that was drafted in the 1st three rounds. USA Today has a database of players by high school, but they don't have the data for the last two drafts.
LA production seems down since Miles arrived. Comments?
ETA: Saban recruited 32 drafted players, 21 from LA and 11 OOS. Of the 18 drafted in the 1st 3 rounds, 13 were from LA.

Those are players that miles signed. he recruited cameron heywood, corey l, ect.
not trying to be a smart arse. just looking at who he identified and went after/recruited is really amazing when you look at the kids we finished second and third on that were first round picks/drafted in general. he recruited julio, marvin austin ect.

Down years in LA. Have to go oos for recruits. Hurricane didnt hekp much with relocation of la atheletes. What went 1-2 this year? Qb and lb. Two positions LA hasnt put out much talent in quite a few years.

AFter Hurricane Katrina Louisiana went through some tough years, but if you've been following recruiting at all, it looks to be back on the rise. Only time will tell however if it gets to the NFL

I wouldnt post on this board if i didnt follow recruiting. Up until this past recruiting class about 52% of the players that signed a LOI at LSU were from OOS since 2005. You cannot have a complete football team with just Louisiana players. But yes seems like that trend is starting to change. We still have to go oos for qbs. We are lucky that we may have a good crop of lbs in state.
We are only going to see more and more players drafted that were recruited by miles. 2005 was abysmal recruiting year for LSU standards. No fault to miles. 2006 wasnt that bad but we had a lot of attrition at o line. But still u rs in 06 you get drafted in 2011. We still have guys from 07 at LSU. Plenty of top notch players miles has signed still on the team. Plenty more to come.

Personally I love the recruiting job Les has done the past 3 seasons in terms of talent combined with character. I also think there is not a valid way to determine analysis of this data. It is unfair to Les to credit Saban with 03 & 04 class draft picks when he basically just recruited them, especially the 04 class. Les had a role in their development. I hate the "Sabans players/recruits" argument when discussing 07 and Les Miles early years at Lsu. On the flip side, no one says a word about Saban coaching Mike Shulas players to a title in year 3 or getting Shulas players drafted, etc. Saban will continue to be perceived to develop talent better, and probably have more high draft picks due to this perception, but Les holds his own certainly in this area as well as win/loss record. Both are great at what they do.

That list is sick. Development of those players as good as the recruitment.
ETA: don't see Keiland Williams on the list. Was he an UDFA? I don't remember off the top of my head but he got solid playing time in DC last season and I think is on the two-deep headed into the offseason. But perhaps you left him off the list on purpose (doghouse, anyone?)

No offensive lineman on that list? That is miles's specialty? He is a c plus coach in the sec at best at developing talent.

First, this is a work in progress. Only 2005 and 2006 are in the books. Undoubted the OL recruiting in these classes were bad. Only Ciron was a contributor and he collapsed in the end. But 2007 already has Barksdale and I think Blackwell and Dworaczyk both could get drafted too. Searels would have played a role in these results too. While I don't know, I would bet there would have been some philosophical differences between the two.
